Kharran is town of district kharran which is situated in Balochistan province of Pakistan. word Karan is derived from qaran which means barren mountains. While kharan is a balochi word which means yellow color which is the Color of Mountains of area.

The state was recognized as a vassal state kalat which means it’s a separate state rule by the prince until 1940. Later in 1948 it became part of Pakistan while on 3^rd of October 1952 it became part of Balochistan state union. The state was dissolved later when Balochistan was given the status of province and the territory of kharran itself was given the status of district

Historically this state was conquered by Azad Khan Nosherwani back in 1789. They were migrants of Iran and later became part of Sistan Balochistan. Azad khan was the builder of the famous fascinating fort of Kharan. This fort was built to provide security to political state of the territory form Afghanistan

After his death. his son Sardar Nawroz Khan Sherwani utilized the place for defense purposes. and later by Sardar Yaqub Khan Nowsherwani (last Chief of his tribe) who died in the same fort.

The leftovers of the fort tells the tale of its rise and fall. While Kharan is historically considered to be the oldest part of Balochistan, which surely can increase the legacy value of the province. Better care for remnants of the fort can attract the attention of archaeologists and tourists and also hunters for relics an d treasure or hidden items
