The Nawab of Makran resided in Shahi Tomb near Turbat. When Makran State was dissolved, Turbat city remained the Division Headquarters. Turbat means place of lovers. It has different historical places and associated stories.
Miri Kalat, situated around 10 kilometers west of Turbat, is an important spot with the relics of a huge castle on top a high hill. Archaeological site has found evidence of harappen period 2700 until around 100 years ago. Constructions and artifacts are reporting over 4500 years of inhabitation.
