The BR 50 Target Max is a two-system machine in the BR Systems range. It combines a long-range detection system for scanning across open ground with an ION search system that tries to identify the ionic field around metals that have been buried for a long time. It is positioned below the BR 100 Pro, which adds a magnetometer mode. It suits users who want a simpler, lighter kit for first surveys.
According to BR, the long-range system reaches up to 1000 metres of distance and the ION system up to 800 metres, with a maximum depth of 20 metres. These numbers are the manufacturer's statements; long-range locators are best seen as tools for narrowing down where to look, and results vary greatly with soil, terrain and user technique. A follow-up check with a conventional detector is always recommended before digging.
Hardware is shared across the family: a PIC32 processor, a 4.3-inch colour screen, a 7800 mAh battery rated for about 20 hours, and a full kit in a carry bag of around 5 kg. Menus include English and Arabic, and audio alerts are supported, so it can be used comfortably in bright outdoor conditions.
