Geoground Trac Max SD500

The Trac Max SD500 is the top model in Geoground's Trac Max series, a newer line of small, low-cost long-range locators. The SD500 is the hybrid version: it ships with both single-person and dual-person rod sets, so a buyer can search alone on one day and with a partner on another. This flexibility makes it a sensible all-round choice within the series.

The unit uses geophysical ground measuring and long-range locator technology. In single-person mode the operator follows the rod movement, while in dual-person mode two users work together to confirm a signal. Manual and automatic target search modes are available, and the soil setting can be chosen from eleven options including low and high mineral, gravel, forest, saline, volcanic, rocky, wet, dry, normal and sandy. The official page lets the user adjust depth and distance but does not publish fixed range figures.

Control and display are handled through a small 1.4-inch colour screen on the unit and the Trac Max Android app connected over Bluetooth. Inside is an ESP32 dual-core processor running at up to 240 MHz, powered by a fast-charging 2000 mAh lithium-polymer battery. The ABS and brass build keeps the complete boxed kit to about 1.3 kg, and the menu supports eight languages.
