GER Detect Gold Hunter Smart

The Gold Hunter Smart is one of the most widely sold GER Detect devices and appears on both the UIG and GER Detect lists. It is a compact handheld unit with four systems: metal detection covering 19 metal types including gold and silver, a void detection system for caves and tombs, a diamond system and a dual-dimension imaging system used to estimate depth.

The manufacturer gives a search depth of up to 50 metres and a front range selectable from 100 to 3000 metres. These are GER Detect's own figures for long-range style detection, so they should be used as a guide to narrow an area rather than as a promise of results. Its small size makes it easy to carry on long walks over hills and dry riverbeds.

The device has a 320 x 240 colour touch screen, a 3.2 to 16 kHz operating frequency, a telescopic antenna and an internal 18 Wh lithium-ion battery rated for 10 hours. The main unit weighs only 325 g, with the full kit at about 2.7 kg. It is weatherproof but not waterproof and offers six languages, including Arabic and English.
