Overview
The TF Mini is the smallest device in the MWF range, a palm-sized locator that weighs only about 90 g. It uses a built-in ionic radar search system, which MWF says processes the levels and signals of ionisation around buried precious metals. Results are given through an interactive light and sound alarm, so there is no screen to learn. Its small size makes it easy to carry in a pocket at all times.
Because of its size, it is meant as a quick scouting tool that can be kept in a pocket during walks, site visits or alongside a larger detector. MWF rates it for a search depth of 5 m and a search distance of 20 m. As with other ionic devices, these are manufacturer claims, and any signal should be checked with a conventional metal detector before digging.
Two lithium-ion cells give about eight hours of work and recharge in around 30 minutes with the supplied 9 V charger. The device measures only 4.8 x 7.8 x 2.6 cm.
