Overview
The BR 100 Pro sits in the middle of the BR Systems range and is built around three search methods rather than one. A long-range system is used to sweep a wide area and point toward a possible target, an ION search system looks for the ionic field said to form around long-buried metals, and a Magneto Scan mode is used for closer checking of magnetic targets.
BR rates the long-range system for up to 1000 metres of distance and gives separate maximum depths for each system: 30 metres for long-range, 20 metres for ION and 16 metres for Magneto. As with every long-range locator, these figures are the manufacturer's own claims and real-world results depend heavily on ground conditions and the operator's experience. Patience and repeated checks from different directions usually give the most useful readings.
The unit shares the BR family hardware: a PIC32 processor, a 4.3-inch colour screen readable in sunlight and a 7800 mAh battery that BR says lasts about 20 hours per charge. The complete set fits in a carrying bag of around 5 kg, and menus are offered in English, Arabic, Turkish and other languages, making it practical for field trips across Pakistan's desert and mountain areas.
