Garrett Vortex VX7

The Vortex VX7 is the middle model in Garrett's Vortex family and gives most of the series' capability without the full menu depth of the VX9. It runs at 5 kHz or 13 kHz single frequency, or in Multi-Freq and Multi-Salt modes, so a single machine can switch between deep, large targets, small coins and jewellery, and the difficult conditions of wet salt sand.

A two-tier Target ID display adds more context to each signal than a basic single scale. Five search modes cover Zero, Standard, USA Coins, Beach and a Custom programme, with four settings each for bottlecap rejection and iron boundary, notch discrimination, high-resolution iron discrimination and a two-step recovery speed control to help in trashy ground. Together these tools let you dig fewer nails and bottle caps while still hearing deeper good targets.

Like the rest of the series, the VX7 is fully submersible to 16 feet (5 m), weighs about 1.38 kg with the 11-inch DD coil and has built-in Z-Lynk wireless. It is a strong all-rounder for Pakistani hunters who search old village sites and farmland but also want to work beaches and riverbanks without buying a second detector. One detector can therefore cover most of the hunting a typical hobbyist does across the year.
