Garrett Vortex VX9

The Vortex VX9 sits at the top of Garrett's Vortex range and is aimed at hunters who want full control over their machine. It uses Garrett's MD-MF platform, letting you run single frequencies of 5, 9, 13, 18 or 25 kHz, a general multi-frequency mode, or a dedicated Multi-Salt mode for wet sand and surf. That flexibility lets one detector cover parks, old farmland, relic sites and beaches.

Its standout feature is a three-tier Target ID display that gives more information about what is under the coil before you dig. Seven search modes, including Thin Coins, Beach and a Fast mode, are joined by adjustable bottlecap rejection, an iron boundary control and three recovery-speed settings, so experienced users can fine-tune separation in iron-heavy or trashy ground. It is a machine that rewards time spent learning its settings.

The detector is fully submersible to 16 feet (5 m), weighs about 1.38 kg with the standard coil and collapses for transport.
