Geoground Cobra GX-8000 Plus

The Cobra GX-8000 Plus is the top model from Geo Ground Detection Technologies, a company based in Frankfurt, Germany. It is not a single handheld but a complete kit made up of a main unit, a separate ionic unit with its own sensor and handle, a compact LRL unit and a GEO unit for ground scanning. This gives a team several independent ways to search for and check a target.

Long-range searching can be done by one person with the single rods or by two people walking with synchronised dual rods. The manufacturer rates the long-range system for a radius of up to 2000 m and depths of up to 50 m, with 12 programs covering targets such as gold, silver, bronze, copper, platinum, diamond, iron and cavities. These figures are manufacturer claims. The ionic system uses the I.B.I sensor to show target and cavity indicators, and the bionic mode matches signals to a reference metal sample.

The 3D ground scanning system sends its data to the Geoground 3D Analyzer Android app for a visual view of underground structures. The main unit has a 5-inch high-resolution screen, 64-bit ARM processor and 32 GB of storage, powered by a removable 21000 mAh lithium-ion battery, while the ionic and LRL units have their own 3.5-inch and 1.4-inch colour screens. The full kit weighs 13 kg in its case.
