Overview
The Titan 400 Smart is part of the GER Detect Titan family and is listed by UIG Detectors as a joint development. Its key difference from the Titan 500 is that it includes a real VLF electromagnetic detector running at 10 kHz with a 30 cm coil, alongside a long-range sensing system, an ionic field system and a void detection system.
That mix means a user can scan an area with the long-range and ionic modes, then walk over the spot with the VLF coil to confirm a metal signal, or use the void system to look for cavities and graves. The manufacturer claims 25 metres of depth and 3000 metres of front range for the long-range modes; these should be read as the maker's claims.
The detector has a 480 x 270 colour touch screen, an internal 27 Wh lithium-ion battery rated for 10 hours and a total kit weight of about 6.6 kg. The coil is waterproof to 30 cm, while the control box is only weatherproof. Six languages including Arabic are offered and a two-year warranty applies to the device. It is a good bridge between locators and detectors.
