Overview
The Mega Scan Pro New Edition is a refreshed version of one of Mega Detection's well-known locators, now built on the same 5-inch touch-era platform as the newer models. It is designed for users who want long-range searching as the main tool but still want a ground scanning view and a pin pointer to check a signal before digging. Mega Detection sells it under the 'New Edition' name to separate it from the older version.
Six systems are included: Manual long-range locator, Automatic long-range locator, Ionic, Bionic, 3D Ground Scan and Pin Pointer. The manufacturer rates the manual LRL for a forward scanning range of 0 to 2000 m and the automatic LRL for 0 to 3000 m, with depth stated at 0 to 50 m. As with all long-range systems, these are the manufacturer's stated figures and actual performance depends on site conditions and operator skill.
The main unit uses a 5-inch high-resolution TFT screen, a 1.4 GHz 64-bit ARM processor and 32 GB of storage, with Wi-Fi for connecting to a tablet. A removable 21000 mAh lithium-ion battery keeps it running through long field days, and the menu supports 12 languages including Urdu. Unlike the Gold Star, this edition ships with the I.M.T.U and V.S.T units rather than the large Multi Ground Scanner probe.
