Overview
The Midi Hoard is Nokta's children's metal detector for the 8 to 12+ age group. Unlike toy detectors, it is a real working 15 kHz machine with a 7 inch coil, so kids can genuinely find coins, rings and small metal objects in the garden, park or at the beach. Its light weight and short adjustable shaft make it comfortable for smaller hands and arms.
Operation is kept deliberately simple. Three-tone discrimination gives a different sound for different metal types, coloured LEDs show the target type and pinpoint information, and a three-step depth indicator gives a rough idea of how deep to dig. Sensitivity has three levels and volume two, so there is little to set up before heading out. Children can start finding things within minutes of switching on, which keeps them interested.
The detector is IP68 rated and can be submerged to 1 m, meaning it survives puddles, rain and paddling at the water's edge. It runs on two standard AA batteries, includes a battery indicator with an automatic low-battery shut-off, and the shaft retracts for storage in a car or bag. It is a durable first step into the hobby before moving up to an adult machine.
