XP Xtrem Hunter

The XTREM HUNTER is XP's answer for people who need to find big objects buried deep, not small coins. It is designed to be naturally insensitive to small items such as nails and bottle caps, so the operator only hears larger metal masses. XP states a maximum depth of up to 5 metres for large targets, which makes it relevant for deep caches, buried containers, large relics and underground metal pipes.

Inside, it uses XP's FMF multiple-frequency platform, which the company says has taken iron discrimination to a new level for this type of machine. That means moderate-sized ferrous objects can be identified and rejected, helping users focus on valuable or interesting targets. A 14-channel frequency scan, automatic or manual, removes electrical interference, and settings include sensitivity, reactivity, threshold, iron rejection and audio response.

The machine weighs about 2.9 kg with its remote and measures 1.20 m assembled, with an adjustable handle and support for balance. A single 18650 lithium-ion cell gives more than 10 hours of use and charges by USB-C in about 4 hours. The construction is waterproof against rain and bad weather. It is made in France and covered by a 5-year parts and labour warranty.
