Ajax Primero MD15

The Primero MD15 is the newest and most complete machine in the Ajax Detection Technology line-up. Instead of one search method, it gives the operator fifteen selectable systems in a single case, so the same kit can be used to scan a site with 3D ground imaging, sweep wide areas with long-range modes, and then pinpoint a target. It is aimed at professional prospecting teams, geological survey work and experienced treasure hunters.

Everything is controlled from a colour tablet running the Primero MD software, linked over Bluetooth to the scanner, search coils, antennas and sensors. The live scan view colours readings so you can tell soil, metal and voids apart as you walk, while saved scans can be reviewed later as 3D images. Soil calibration for clay, rocky, sandy and mineralised ground, plus iron rejection, help reduce false signals in difficult Pakistani terrain.

Ajax lists targets including gold, gold nuggets, silver, copper, bronze, meteorites, gemstones such as diamond and emerald, as well as groundwater and underground cavities. The manufacturer rates the imaging systems to around 30 metres and the long-range systems much deeper; these figures are Ajax's own claims and real results depend on ground and target size. The kit runs on a 12 V rechargeable battery charged over USB-C and carries a two-year manufacturer warranty.
