AKA Berkut 5

The Berkut 5 is the first model of AKA's fifth series and the replacement for the long-running Condor 7252M. The most obvious change is the display, which AKA says is almost twice the size of its predecessor's, giving a clearer view of the hodograph target picture. A programmable button lets users put their most-used function within one press.

It works with AKA coils from 1 to 22 kHz and comes with a 9x12-inch DD coil running at 7 kHz, a good all-round choice for coins and relics. Noise level and volume adjust independently, there is a universal headphone socket, and firmware can be updated by the owner using a dedicated USB cable. Ground balance can be manual or automatic.

AKA rates a 21 mm coin at about 18 cm and a 32 mm coin at about 35 cm, with around 20 hours from four AA batteries and a weight of about 1.3 kg. For Pakistani detectorists wanting a well-equipped mid-range machine with a coil included, the Berkut is a practical package for coins, relics and general field searching.
