AKA Sorex PRO

The Sorex PRO is AKA's mid-range discriminating detector, an evolution of the earlier Sorex 7280 and 7281 models. It accepts AKA search coils across a wide frequency span, from 2 to 22 kHz, so the same control box can be set up for small shallow targets with a higher-frequency coil or for more depth with a lower-frequency one. The coil is chosen separately.

Inside, AKA uses an induction-compensated converter and a two-channel system: one channel for detection and one for identification. Three signal-processing algorithms (MSF, GA and SSF) are available, and the improved soil balancing works together with AKA's hodograph, a graphic display of the target's response that experienced users read to judge what lies below. When a target is found, the machine can switch to static mode for precise location.

AKA rates a 21 mm coin at about 18 cm and a 32 mm coin at about 35 cm. With a weight of around 1.3 kg and up to 40 hours from four AA cells, it is comfortable for long days in the field. For Pakistani users it is a good choice for coins, relics and general detecting where a balance of features, weight and running cost matters.
