GER Detect Gold Seeker

The Gold Seeker is a conventional, swing-the-coil metal detector in the GER Detect range rather than a long-range locator. It uses a pulse induction system with ground balancing, the same basic technology favoured for gold nugget hunting in the mineralised, iron-rich soils found across many parts of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is the machine in this family to choose when you want to find small gold rather than scan from a distance.

GER Detect quotes a search depth of 3.5 metres, which reflects large targets rather than small nuggets. Two coils are supplied: a 30 cm coil for covering ground and reaching deeper, and a 15 cm coil for tight spots and smaller gold. Both coils are waterproof to 30 cm, so they can be used in shallow streams, although the control box itself is only weatherproof.

Power comes from an external 54 Wh lithium-ion battery rated for about 12 hours, and audio is delivered through headphones. The detector extends from 820 mm to 1513 mm, weighs about 2 kg and the full kit about 6.8 kg. The box also includes a multi-use shovel and a UIG Pointer pinpointer, and the device carries a two-year warranty. It is a sensible all-round choice.
