Overview
The Lorenz Deepmax Z2 is a professional pulse induction metal detector developed and built in Germany by Lorenz Detecting Systems. It is designed for deep searching, such as locating buried caches, larger metal objects and archaeological targets, and it works in non-motion mode, so the coil does not need to be swept to keep the signal stable.
The Z2 uses a pulse ground balancing system that can be set as a preset, a two-step automatic balance or manually, together with Lorenz's Pulse Shaping Technology and differential noise cancelling. Its LC display shows a signal bar graph, a conductivity reading from 000 to 099 and ferrous or non-ferrous icons, helping the operator judge what kind of metal is below. A built-in data acquisition function can record survey fields for later mapping on a computer.
The Standard Detecting Kit adds the coils most users need to the basic electronics: a 1 m x 1 m frame coil with carrying straps and bag for maximum depth on larger targets, a 35 cm DD coil for smaller items, and a three-piece telescopic S-pole. Lorenz publishes example depths of roughly 40-50 cm for a 2 cm gold coin with small coils, rising beyond 125 cm with large frame coils, depending on settings.
