XP MI-4 Pinpointer

The MI-4 is XP's stand-alone pinpointer, built on the same body and 12 kHz detection as the MI-6 but without the wireless link to XP detectors. That makes it a sensible choice for anyone using a wired XP machine such as the ADX150, G-Maxx II or Gold Maxx Power, or a detector from another brand, who still wants French-made pinpointing quality.

It detects from both the tip and all around the probe (360°), so you can scan the sides of a hole or sweep loose soil quickly. Three sensitivity levels plus a retune function let you narrow down the target, and six programs and a choice of pulse or pitch audio help in different conditions. The speaker, vibrator and LED can be switched off to stretch the battery life further.

The MI-4 is waterproof to 6 metres, so it can be used on the beach and in shallow water. It measures 24 cm long and weighs 170 g, with a rechargeable lithium polymer battery that XP describes as very long-lasting. A holster, strap and charging cable are included. Like the MI-6, it is made in France and carries a 2-year warranty.
