Overview
The XP ORX is a simplified wireless detector aimed mainly at gold prospectors, while still being capable on coins. It uses the same proven wireless technology as the original DEUS, linking coil, remote control, headphones and the MI-6 pinpointer, but with a straightforward interface and four factory programs: two for gold and two for coins, plus two user slots, which suits detectorists in Pakistan well.
Its strength is high frequency. With the HF coils it can work between 13 and 81 kHz, and XP highlights options such as 50 and 81 kHz for extreme sensitivity to tiny targets. That makes it a good fit for small gold nuggets and flakes in gold-bearing areas. X35 coils are also available, covering 3.7 to 27.7 kHz for coins and general detecting in less mineralised ground.
The ORX weighs only about 750 g with its 320 g S-Telescopic Lite stem, so it is easy to swing on rough prospecting terrain. Lithium batteries give around 20 hours of use. Ground balance is manual or automatic, and a salt mode helps on beaches. An optional waterproof kit allows use to 5 m. Like other XP machines it is made in France with a 5-year warranty.
